Learning

The Learning Networks approach to learning

The person who is educated is the person who has learnt how to learn, the person who has learned how to adapt and change, the person who has realised that no knowledge is secure... A reliance on process rather that static knowledge is the only thing that makes sense as a goal for education in the modern world"

ROGERS, C., 1988. Freedom to Learn for the Eighties. Columbus OH: Merill p.93.

'Continuing employee development' concerns staff engagement in learning and development activities for the purpose of practice / service improvement. The Learning Network recognises the importance of diversity in learning and development provision.

We acknowledge recognition of prior learning, workplace learning, the involvement of service users and carers in staff training and use of information technology as key components contributing to the development of an open, responsive and progressive learning culture within Scotland's social services.

The Learning Network promotes good practice in the field, encourages partnership working to develop innovative and effective provision, and seeks to ensure all staff have access to learning opportunities.
